What we're about

Foodways link us to culture, history, and tradition—and they’re more delicious when shared! Enjoy fabulous food and learn about the culture and experiences of #NewVirginians. In conjunction with our exhibition "New Virginians: 1619–2019 & Beyond," which examines the state's increasing diversity, the Library of Virginia is hosting a new Meetup group for culinary and cultural exploration. We will gather at local immigrant-owned restaurants to build community and hear the owners’ personal stories about sharing their cuisine with the commonwealth. Attendees will each order and pay for their own dinners and beverages.

Learn more about the Library of Virginia, the Commonwealth's library and archives, at www.lva.virginia.gov. (http://www.lva.virginia.gov/) New Virginians, an exhibition presented by the Library and Virginia Humanities, is a Legacy Project of the 2019 Commemoration, American Evolution, running through December 7, 2019.

Sharing the Table with Natalie's Taste of Lebanon

Natalie's Taste of Lebanon

We look forward to meeting the family at Natalie's not only to enjoy their highly recommended Lebanese cuisine but to support their extra wide net of inclusion. From their website: "At the heart of Natalie's Taste of Lebanon is a mother's love for her daughter. Her desire is to give Natalie and others living with a disability the pride and strength which comes from employment while sharing a taste of the cuisine and culture of Lebanon. Natalie's Taste of Lebanon is built upon the idea of inclusion. We wish to show that no matter who you are, we value you." We have a reservation for 20 people. Each attendee will order from Natalie's regular menu and pay for themselves. Here is a link to their menu: https://www.nataliesrva.com/menu Look forward to seeing you there!
