Welcome to Serious Play with LEGO! Please note that this is a re-run of the introduction session and not a follow-on session. Seeking another way to help people communicate more effectively and engage their imagination more readily? Many professional people have experienced 'meeting agony' where 20% of the people do 80% of the talking and usually those who want to say something... don't! Join us for a quick session as an introduction to LEGO Serious Play to see how you can use this simple method to encourage full participation in your meetings and help teams work together. Playing with LEGO is fun! And we could all use a bit of play in our workplace. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided. Please note this event is limited to 30 people.
Safety is the foundation of well-functioning teams, but how do you create it? How do we build trust, make failure acceptable, and find our flow? Improvisation is a great way to do that, and this meetup will introduce you to some simple exercises you can use with your Scrum teams to establish common ground, build the feeling of safety, and get everyone working more closely together. This event will be led by John Allen, Agile coach and former member of a professional Improv group. It's entirely participatory, so wear comfortable shoes and come prepared to move around a bit. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served. Please note this event is limited to 25 people.
Modular contracting (aka modular or agile procurement) is a strategy that breaks up large, complex procurements into multiple and tightly-scoped projects to implement technology systems in small increments. Modular contracting isn’t new, though it is a relatively new approach for government procurement. It can be a sensible way to lower the risk of technology modernization projects by allowing agencies to get software to users faster, with less money and risk, and with more flexibility to course correct when things go wrong or circumstances change. During this Meetup will discuss how a phased approach to modular contracting makes good business sense, and share some resources from the field on how to quickly get started with this acquisition approach. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served! Our discussion will be facilitated by Robert Palmer, Senior Consultant, Assurity Consulting.
