This group is designed for people who like bush walks, beach walks, weekend getaways and group holidays to various destinations all around Australia. Newcastle Bushwalks & Getaways is a sister group to Sydney Bushwalks & Getaways and Sydney Bushwalking Group.

If you would like to join Newcastle Bushwalks & Getaways, please pay $10 annual membership fee to help cover our administration costs and time taken to organize and attend events. Eg. If you attend 20 events over a 12 month period, it will cost you $0.50 per event.

Outback Adventure to Broken Hill, White Cliffs, Mutawintji NP and Mungo NP

This will be a joint event with Sydney Bushwalks & Getaways. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this trip last year, which is why we are doing it again this year and have expanded the trip to include Mutawintji National Park, White Ciffs opal mines and Menindee Lakes. OUTBACK HOLIDAY ITINERARY. We will be flying to Adelaide and picking up a 12 seater minibus to drive to Broken Hill and Silverton. We will drive back to Adelaide via Mutawintji NP, White Cliffs, Wilcannia, the Darling River, Menindee Lakes, Mildura, Mungo NP and the Barossa Valley, so that we can visit Wolf Blass Winery and Maggie Beer's gourmet food shop. 21/8. This will be a very interesting holiday, as it will allow us to visit historical mining towns such as Silverton silver and zinc mines and White Cliffs opal mines, as well as Mutawinjti and Mungo National Parks. Mungo NP is where they found the remains of Mungo Man, one of the oldest known men is the world. TOURIST ATTRACTIONS. Living Desert Sculptures, Line of Lode Miners Memorial, Pro Hart's Art Gallery, Broken Hill Art Gallery, Sulphide St Railway Museum, Silverton Museums, Daydream Silver Mine, Mutawintji NP cultural tour, White Cilffs opal mines, Mungo NP cultural tour. ACCOMMODATION. We have booked excellent quality triple share motel accommodation for 10 people at the Desert Sand Motel, Broken Hill, White Cliffs Underground Motel, Mid City Plantation Motel, Mildura and Angaston Vineyards Motel, in the heart of the Barossa Valley. OPTIONAL TOURS. Aboriginal cultural tours at Mutawintji and Mungo National Parks, which will cost $20 to $50 per person. We will can also do a Murray River dinner cruise at Mildura if anyone is interested. HOLIDAY COST. $1450 per person, which includes return flights to Adelaide, 7 nights good quality accommodation, 8 days minibus hire, fuel, extra kilometres and vehicle insurance. Bushwalk from Dudley to Redhead via Awabakal Reserve & Redhead Lagoon

BUSHWALK. This will be a medium difficulty 10-12km bushwalk that will take us about 4 hours. We will walk to Redhead Beach via Boundary St Trail, Lagoon Trail, Bluff Trail, Dudley Lookout, Redhead Lookout and return to Dudley via Redhead Trail & Lagoon Trail. WHAT TO BRING. Good bushwalking shoes, a hat, rain jacket, backpack, sunscreen, first aid kit, picnic lunch and 1.5L water. BEFORE WALK. Coffee shop & bakery at Whitebridge shops. AFTER WALK. October Long Weekend Trip to Warrumbungles, Sculptures in the Scrub & Sawn Rocks

This is a joint event with Sydney Bushwalks & Getaways EXTRA LONG WEEKEND. Due to long driving distances, you will have to take Tuesday off work to give us enough time to do everything. Otherwise, we would be driving most of the time on Saturday and Monday and would only have enough time to visit the Warrumbungle Mountains on the Sunday. NORTH WEST 4 DAY ROAD TRIP. To avoid driving long distances every day, we have booked a motel at Coonabarabran for 3 nights. This will allow us to do day trips to the Warrumbungle Mountains, Narrabri, Nandewar Ranges, Sawn Rocks, Mount Kaputar and return to Coonabarabran each night. We will then return to Newcastle via Scone and the Hunter Valley. SIGHT-SEEING. You will see lots of birds, kangaroos, mountains and bush. The Warrumbungle Mountains views are absolutely fabulous, but you will have to climb 1000 stairs to get to the top. We will also visit Mount Kaputar and Sawn Rocks in the Nandewar Ranges, about 25km north east of Narrabri. BUSHWALKING. We will go for a 12km bushwalk at Warrumbungle Mountains, a 3km walk at Sawn Rocks, a 7km bushwalk at Mount Kaputar and a 3km bushwalk at Burning Mountain near Scone. The Warrumbungles bushwalk is a steep "medium to hard" 12km walk that will take us about 4 hours, but it is possible to do shorter bushwalks. HOLIDAY COST. $495 per person, which includes 3 nights triple share or quad share motel accommodation, 4 days minibus hire, fuel, extra kilometres and vehicle insurance. ACCOMMODATION. We will book 4 triple share motel rooms for 12 people. If you would like a twin share room, it will cost and extra $75pp. If you would like a single room, it will cost you and extra $150 for 3 nights. PAYMENT. Birubi Beach, Fishermans Bay, Kingsley Beach, Boat Harbour & Morna Point

BUSH & BEACH WALK. This will be an easy to medium difficulty 10km walk with lots of rock hopping. We will start with coffee at Birubi Beach Surf Club and walk to Fishermans Bay, then drive to Kingsley Beach & Boat Harbour and walk to Morna Point. After the walk, we will drive to Murrays Brewery and Wonganella Winery for food, drinks and live music. WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, snack food and 1.5L of water. PICNIC LUNCH. You can bring a picnic lunch to have at Boat Harbour or you can have a late lunch at Murrays Brewery. Eg. Ribs, Burgers & Chips. CAR POOL. I suggest taking as few cars as possible, as parking is very crowded at Birubi Beach. If you would like to car pool, please post a message and meet us 9.00am at Lambton Swimming Pool. If you would prefer to drive yourself, we can meet you 10.00am at Birubi Beach Surf Club coffee shop. AFTER WALK. We can call into Murrays Brewery & Wonganella Winery for food, drinks, wine tasting and live music.
