For November we have Gareth Jones. If you have ever wondered you you can do to make your team better without having to find a new team this talk is for you.

Bring along your news and interesting bits from the last month for our start of the night news session.

As always we'll have free pizza and great conversation.

We'd like to thank our sponsors Banlaw and Saphi for their support. They help to keep us going and the pizza free.

Gareth Jones is a Lead Software Engineer at Blueshift. He's been working with .NET since Winforms was cool, right up to today where he's been getting his hands dirty with all the fun buzz words; .NET Core, micro-services, DDD, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Docker, and Kubernetes. Outside of the office he enjoys hacking away on his home automation system trying to figure out why the lights won't turn on, and continues to tell himself that he's an avid mountain biker, which he recently redefined as "a person who rides at least once a year".

If you work in the tech industry, chances are you belong to a team. If you're lucky, you will have experienced the joy that is working in a high performing team. But high performing teams aren't the norm. So what can we do to change that? In this talk, Gareth will be sharing with you the ideas behind the 5 stages of team development, and giving you some actionable strategies to help speed your teams progress through the stages. These strategies will include building a feedback culture in your team, running continual learning initiatives on company time, and growing a team of ideal team players. You'll also hear some tips and tricks that have been successfully used to get around the usual "we don't have the time for that" or "it'll cost us too much money!".

This talk is meant for people in all levels of their career, be they a leader of people or not. Any team member can and should take on a level of ownership in helping to drive your team to be the best it can be. You might even find that a spark of something awakens within you around the thought of someday leading your own team to glory!
