I'm a huge fan of both film & theatre having spent many a great evening at the Tyneside Cinema, Side Cinema, Northern Stage, Live Theatre & People's Theatre here in Newcastle.
I hope, with your input & support , I can organise some great events for the group encompassing films & plays to suit all tastes from mainstream to world cinema, blockbusters to indie film & perhaps offer our support to some local amateur stage productions too. I'd also like to plan trips to various film festivals going forward.
I'd love some feedback as to the sort of films & plays members prefer, their favourite venues & the best days to schedule our meetups.
UPDATE: Postponed again until Friday 19th March. And I’ve decided to give this a miss but there’ll probably be tickets available given the current situation. They’re fantastic, I always have a great night so I do recommend seeing them...... at some point.
Tickets £22 and allocated seating.
“ Based on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries are one of Scotlands best-known names in contemporary folk music. They are multiple award winners and were recently added to the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. They’ve taken their own individual brand of Scottish tunes to audiences around the world, from European Festivals, to Asia, America, Canada and America.
The Peatbogs have recorded seven studio albums and two live albums, the latest, Live @ 25 recorded in 2016–17 to commemorate their 25th anniversary.“
I’ve been to these gigs a few times over the years, always a good day out! Never bought the priority tickets but open to do so if people want to.
We are very excited to announce that Will Young is headlining the second of this year's South Tyneside Festival Sunday Concerts!
The multi-award winning singer, who has an amazing back catalogue of hits including Evergreen, Leave Right Now, Jealousy and You and I, will be heading to South Shields on Sunday 19 July.
With support from Beth Macari.
Admission is FREE, or you could upgrade to a Priority Plus ticket.
A Priority Plus ticket allows earlier access into the event, along with access to dedicated bar serveries and toilets. If you would prefer to arrive later your ticket will still provide you with guaranteed entry, however your viewing position may be more towards the rear of the crowd.
Priority Plus tickets are £6 (under 5s free). They can be purchased in advance up until 7 days before from:
- www.ticketmaster.co.uk/southtynesidefestival or call Ticketmaster on[masked]
- In person at the Shop @ The Word, Market Place, South Shields, NE33 1JF (open Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm, Friday 9am - 5pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am - 4pm)

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink, but there will be plenty of food outlets and bars in the park too.
