Presentation 2: Centograqs

Summary: Cryptography, cypher text, text analytics, predictive analytics, game design, and quantitative linguistics depend on relative and absolute relationship among text objects for the purpose of creating cyphers, new technology products, enhancing security systems, and providing artificial intelligence with data to predict likely behavior of animate and inanimate systems. This study, which was initially borne out of curiosity, studied a special class of English words using methodology as in similar studies with the aim of researching the fact that they have similar or dissimilar patterns and also provide comprehensive methodology of how to carry out this research and similar tasks using Microsoft® Excel. English words whose weighted-sum is 100 percent were studied to investigate the pattern of use of English alphabets for constructing such words and to see if these words differ in construction compared to free text and dictionary words. These words are colloquially referred to as centograqs for the purpose of simplicity in this study. In particular, the study looked at pattern of initial and terminal letters, word length, distribution of letters in terms of position within words, most used letters and words with unique letters i.e. non-repeated letters within words. The results show that compared to conventional study on the pattern of construction of English words there are both similarities and divergence in results especially with respect to word length, initial, terminal and population of common letters. For instance, the average word length in the English Dictionary is about 8, which is similar to our findings here but instead of the ‘ETAION’ which are most common letters in English text, ‘EAIRON’ are the most common letters among centograqs. Also it was established that ‘SPCAUM’ are the most common initial letter while ‘EYNDRS’ are the most common terminal letters. Finally, we were able to use the findings from the study to construct a new class of cypher text which would elude character frequency methods in deciphering encrypted messages completely.
