Scavenger Hunt in Old Town Alexandria!

I am hoping for very nice weather Saturday, mostly sunny with a high of 68. Perfect for walking around Old Town!

Don't forget that at least one member of your team must have the Kik app downloaded. You can also download it when you arrive. Have a lot of space available on your phone for photos, and make sure your phone is fully charged.

If you do not have a team, don't worry, there will be plenty of others looking for teammates.

Lastly, don't forget that we are meeting by the Gazebo outside Blackwall Hitch, not inside the restaurant. We will have signs with us, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding us.

Then join us for the first-ever DMV Bar Trivia Players scavenger hunt! Bring a team of four with you, or make new friends on the spot when you arrive. Wear your Halloween costume, if you'd like, and we can grab drinks in Old Town afterwards.

In order to participate, you must donate $5 (or more, if you'd like) to King Street Cats (KSC), the only cat-exclusive, no-kill rescue facility in Alexandria. KSC is 100% volunteer-run and relies solely on private donations. With no paid staff, every dollar donated goes to the welfare of their cats.

Rules

• We will meet by the Gazebo in between Blackwall Hitch and the Torpedo Factory. We will be holding DMV Bar Trivia Players signs so everyone can find us.

• The scavenger hunt will start precisely at 2 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.

• Sign in when you arrive so we can verify that you have made your donation. You also may donate in cash or by check when you arrive, or through the link above upon arrival.

• You will be using a smartphone with the Kik app, so we suggest coming with the app downloaded and fully charged. Bring an extra battery or portable charger if you have one, and make sure you have space on your phone for lots of photos.

• Answers will be found between Cameron and Prince Streets (North/South) and Washington Street and the Waterfront (West/East), plus Founders Park, the Lyceum, the Torpedo Factory, and the grounds around Christ Church. Clues will be divided into regions to help. Additional points will be given for bonus activities.

• You will need to go inside buildings to answer some clues; you will not need to trespass on private property. Please do not trespass on private property. We will not be bailing anyone out of jail.

• Participants will use the Kik app to submit answers. You must send a photo of your full team to the judges before the scavenger hunt begins. For each clue and bonus activity, you must submit a photo of the answer, and all team members must be in the photo, except for the one who is taking the photo. No selfies! There will also be clues clearly marked as bonus answers that do not require a photo.

• Teams must be between three and four people and cannot split up during the scavenger hunt (except for, of course, bathroom breaks).

• Safety first: Do not jaywalk or do anything else that might put you or your teammates in any danger. Do not pet any dogs without asking their owners for permission first, no matter how cute they look!

• The team with the most points at the end will get the prizes and bragging rights!

• We will meet back at the gazebo at 5 p.m. Any answers turned in after 5 p.m. will not be accepted.

• This event will take place rain or shine, however, in case of severe weather, we will reschedule. Because this money is going straight to charity, we cannot offer a refund.
