Your Activity
Coral Restoration in Padangbai
Start your day in Padangbai, a seaside town in Karangasem best known for its port. But beyond the boats and ferries, Padangbai hides a beautiful underwater world full of life. Here, you’ll meet communities working to protect and restore the coral reefs. After a short briefing, you’ll head out to the pontoon to help make a reef star, an important part of the coral restoration project. Later, you can dive or snorkel to see the conservation site and experience the vibrant marine life up close.
Community Time at Wholesome Hub
Back on shore, unwind with everyone over coffee or fresh juice at the Wholesome Hub. Learn more about their journey, the challenges of marine conservation, and how local communities are working together to protect Bali’s reefs for future generations.
Traditional Salt Farm Visit in Kusamba
In the afternoon, head west to Kusamba, a seaside village where salt-making has been a way of life for generations. Here, you’ll meet Pak Warta, one of the last few people still keeping the traditional craft alive. He’ll show you how seawater is spread over black volcanic sand, left to dry under the sun, and then gathered by hand to form pure, natural salt.
Our Impact
About the Community You’re Supporting
Meet the people behind our Karangasem Trip — two communities connected to Bali’s sea and coastal traditions. In Padangbai, the Livingseas Foundation works with local divers to restore coral reefs and protect marine life, ensuring lasting impact for the ocean.
In Kusamba, Pak Warta continues the age-old craft of handmaking salt using seawater, black sand, and sunlight. By joining this trip, you help support their efforts to preserve both Bali’s marine and cultural heritage.
Using Tourism to Protect What Matters
Tourism drives most of Bali’s economy, but it doesn’t always give back to the people or the environment. This trip is designed to change that. By joining, you’re helping turn travel into a force for good — supporting coral restoration, preserving traditional salt-making, and empowering the local communities that keep Bali being “Bali”.3 attendees - $40.00
