Norfolk Area History Walks : Walk 2 - 17 August 2019 (3.8 miles) - Thetford

Details
Meet at 12:00 (that's lunch-time, not at night) at Thetford Priory, Water Lane, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1BB. You will likely near to park in nearby streets or car parks as the on-site car park is small. I'm aiming for the walk to last less than three hours and there's an optional pub stop at the end if anyone wants to have a post-walk drink. Please note, the walk has been reduced in length to under 4 miles to give us more time to look at history :)
If you arrive a bit late, it's fine, we'll still be at the priory site for at least thirty minutes.
-----
In 2019 Norfolk Area Ramblers are running a series of walks in conjunction with NORAH (Norfolk Archives and Heritage Development Foundation) which works in conjunction with Norfolk Record Office. There will be six walks, all of which are around five miles in length, which cover some interesting history in various parts of the county. Further details will be added to this page in due course, but please reserve this date (and others) if you're interested.
The walks are primarily (but not entirely) led by Julian (who is a trustee of NORAH and on the committee of Norfolk Area Ramblers), with the aim being that the walks are entertaining and interesting, rather than necessarily walks of academic rigour. So the plan is that they're accessible and hopefully reasonably engaging. The walks are a trial for 2019 and the programme will be extended in 2020 with more walk leaders and speakers if this year is a success. So, get in early and be part of the first year of this exciting event. Or if it's not a success and we don't run the walks in 2020, then get in early and be part of the only year that this exciting event runs.
The walks are free of charge, although donations to NORAH are welcome, but not compulsory. Car park details and exact locations will be published nearer the time. The walks aren't long so bring your own snacks and drinks as there isn't always a nearby Greggs to stock up on delicious and nutritious snacks.
The walks are:
(i) Sunday 14 July 2019 - Arminghall Henge
(ii) Saturday 17 August 2019 - Thetford
(iii) Saturday 31 August 2019 - King's Lynn
(iv) Sunday 1 September 2019 - Great Yarmouth
(v) Saturday 21 September 2019 - Eccles / Ingham Priory (in conjunction with Heritage Open Days)
(vi) Sunday 22 September 2019 - Eccles / Ingham Priory (in conjunction with Heritage Open Days)
