OMFG, Streams are Awesome!

Details

This month, our guest speaker is Pam Selle, organizer of Philadelphia JavaScript Developers (http://meetup.com/Philadelphia-JavaScript-Developers/). She will be flying down from NYC (The Recurse Center) to give us a talk about why streams are awesome:

There’s a data structure that essentially makes you a wizard and that data structure is streams. In this talk, you’ll learn more about the best data structure you didn’t know enough about and how to leverage its power in JavaScript. Expect to learn about IO streams, generators, and the latest developments in the awesome awesomeness that is streams.

Pam Selle is a software engineer, published author, and public speaker. She develops software professionally in Philadelphia, PA and is known to appear at hackathons from time to time. She’s the author of Choosing a JavaScript Framework (http://thewebivore.com/book/) and several articles. For public speaking, she has spoken at local user groups and regional and national conferences on HTML5, CSS, Sass, and JavaScript. She has taught students JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, Ruby, and more as an instructor for GirlDevelopIT and other organizations.

Keep in mind that we're meeting on a Thursday evening instead of our usual Monday evening this month. We're also hosting for the first time at the new Slover library in Norfolk. Come eat, drink, and learn about streams!

After the event, we will be heading over to the Norfolk Taproom for an hour of drinks sponsored by 80/20 consulting.

Special thanks to 80/20 (http://8020.co/), Grow (http://thisisgrow.com), Tek Systems (http://www.teksystems.com/), and CodeBetter.com (http://www.codebetter.com) for sponsoring this event.
