I know you’re out there in your apartments playing, singing, mixing, writing, rhyming, and jamming (I can hear you, trumpet!!!). Some of you are pros and some are just starting out. Some of you want to make music your career and some are just doing it for the love of it. Let’s get together and share the gift of music with each other. You never know what creative collaborations and friendships could spark up.
The format is simple. We find a space with some chairs and a mic around NoHo (please expect to chip in to cover rental fees). You bring your instrument(s) and a song that you’ve been working on. You will get time to share a few things about yourself and to perform one or two songs (originals, covers, instrumental, foreign language, whatever). The group will provide generous applause, constructive feedback, and encouragement. Once that’s over, we’ll hang and make friends.
To be part of this group, you have to be able and willing to perform music (at least some). You cannot come to just watch; however, musicians can bring non-musical friends (for moral support, I guess).
This group is not meant to be a regular rehearsal/group jam session. It is meant for individual musicians to perform solo and showcase the music they love/write. If you happen to vibe with someone else, you can collab outside of the meetup. As we grow and evolve, we may switch it up.
Note that the space in the group is limited. I will remove you if you are not active or if I get a weird vibe. Please take no offense. I want this to be a productive and positive experience for the right people.
P.S. Feel free to message me if you'd like to help with organizing, know of/have space available, have sound equipment you can share, have ideas on format, etc. I would really appreciate it!
