What we're about

From March onward we have been impacted by government guidance, as a result of novel corona virus.
We miss having you in our home but would love to see you at the physically-distanced recitals listed on the site. These take place at two different locations- Abbey Rd ( St Mary with All Saints) and at St Philip the Apostle, not far from our home. We are now offering excerpts of concerts online as well. We hope to see you! More than evermusicians need to rely on support from a virtual or live audience. If you can support via paypal, it is greatly appreciated. Please donate through paypal details below:

The group is for people who enjoy hearing live classical music played by professional musicians in an intimate setting. Our first concert was in February 2018 and since then we have run concerts on an approximately monthly basis. We pride ourselves on creating a convivial atmosphere in which we present varied, themed programs. The artists and audience retain traditional roles for the ‘salon' performance, in that there is applause and the normal rituals of a concert, but we strive to create a welcoming, informal mood around that. We serve complimentary pre-concert drinks from 7.30 and post-concert food - which we usually try to theme with the music. (We always have vegetarian/vegan options.)

The concerts start at 8.00 and generally last between 50 minutes and an hour. (Longer programmes may have an interval). Each concert has a distinct theme drawing on different European regions and traditions, which the musicians usually reflect upon during their performances. Most evenings the conversation carries on for some time over the food and a drink.

We can accommodate up to 25 people at each concert. The events are not ticketed but we do ask for a donation all of which goes to the professional musicians who perform. We appreciate that people's circumstances vary but we suggest a donation of £20. We think that figure represents good value for the evening we provide and also, given our average attendance, this usually provides 2 musicians with a reasonable fee for their performance - and of course all their preparation and rehearsals. (Please note that none of our musicians are amateurs, they all earn their living from live performance.)

It is these donations that enable us to put on concerts of high quality (and help keep music ‘live’ at a time when the arts are not well supported!) That said, we prefer an easy, discrete approach towards the donations. We have a pot in the entrance hall which people can just pop their donation into anytime during the evening. We absolutely do not ask for payment on entry - preferring instead to welcome you and pour you a drink! All of the food and wine is on the house.

We also ask that you RSVP (and let us know if you are bringing a guest.) Some concerts have been oversubscribed and in that event we will operate a reserve list. For this reason, in the event that you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel your RSVP so we can offer the place to someone else.

Finally, we welcome enquiries from musicians who would like to perform. Please contact Gina directly ( londongina@yahoo.co.uk ) if you would like to discuss performing at a future event.

The venue for all concerts is: 51 Langham Road, London, N15 3LR

We are an easy 5 minute walk from TurnpIke Lane tube / bus station (Piccadilly Line) and bus routes along nearly West Green Road. Alternatively free street parking is always easy to find directly outside on Langham Road.

We look forward to meeting you at one of our concerts very soon.
