This is a group for anyone who is introverted/shy/socially anxious and would like to connect with similar people, try out new things, and have a safe place to talk about challenges and get support and feedback from others. What we will actually do in the meetings is flexible, so feel free to suggest activities, this is your chance to experiment with what YOU want! Some activities that worked great for me in the past were:
- Group feedback: talk through your real-life awkward situations with the group and get objective feedback about these situations, why they aren't as bad as you think, and how you could grow from them.
- Exposures: get guidance and support from others in taking small, concrete action to step out of your comfort zone!
- Improv exercises - improv is one of the most effective tools that I found for reducing self-consciousness and increasing spontaneity and connection with others. I can have a professional improv-for-anxiety coach come in and give classes, if enough people are interested.
- Social simulations: practice your most dreaded social situations with group members, and get a chance to experiment in a safe environment, before taking it out into the real world!
