Security in Software Design and Implementation

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Our first Meetup will be an introduction to security considerations in software design and implementation. Our guest speakers will aim to answer these key questions:

1. What are common security concerns for developers and consumers of web, mobile, and cloud computing applications?

2. How can these be avoided or managed during the design and implementation phases?

3. What are industry best practices for dealing with security issues after an application is in use?

4. Where can interested folks get more info on these security topics?

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

We'll have a quick introduction followed by two guest speakers and then a moderated Q&A panel. There will be time for meeting fellow attendees, speakers, and panelists as well.

DO I HAVE TO BE AN EXPERT? A STUDENT?

No and no. This Meetup is open to all who are interested and is meant to be an introduction to the topic.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

A sense of curiosity, good questions, and maybe a laptop or tablet for following along. Business cards or a willingness to share digital contact information is a good idea too!

HOW SHOULD I GET THERE?

North Seattle College is served by several buses and rideshare services. We encourage folks to use public transit and carpool if possible, but parking is available for a small fee on campus. Parking is very limited in the neighborhood surrounding campus.
