North TX Skeptic Monthly Meeting and Annual Elections

Room 206, Hill Country. The meeting room location is subject to change, so look for the posted meeting room outside the entrance, or inside the main entrance door. Plenty of free parking is available at the Center for Community Cooperation in the lots on either side of Liberty St. and Oak St.

This meeting will be mainly for business and planning for the new year. Annual elections for the Board of Directors and officers will be held at this meeting. If you are interested in contributing to the organization you are welcome to attend and to share your ideas. The meeting is open to the public, but only paid members have a vote in the election, and only paid members can serve on the board of directors or as an officer. Membership is $30 for a whole year.

p.s.s. One minor quibble: once again the list of who attended is incomplete - I'm pretty sure I was there. It's not personal, but I think other new folks may be drawn to events with a bit more attendance, which there was. See you next meeting.

Meeting was interesting in a dysfunctional kind of way... Hey, even rational folks can get a bit "irrational."
Once the paperwork gets worked out we can decide where to go from here - what is our purpose, focus, mission, etc. I would like to see a forum here and there on popular myths, misconceptions etc. I have a topic in mind, in which I have some expertise, which I would be glad to present - both entertaining and helpful. Oh yes, please keep us informed about the book tour/meet the author (atheist book) event. p.s. I plan to actually join online this weekend (payday!), not just attend meetings. Looking forward to the next meeting.

I appreciate the words and feedback of the new guy, Bill, but some of it got out of hand. He took control of the meeting, after coming out of the woodwork. I'm skeptical of him. The meeting was informative yet uncomfortable.

There is an art to keeping order in meetings. I have certainly seen other meetings get out of control, not necessarily just NTS. There is a balance between letting people express opinions, and preventing the meeting from going off the agenda. The meeting was probably not the place to educate someone who had never been there before about the group history.
