Join us this month for a fully-remote talk from Chad Gowler about the cross-section of user research and development.

If you'd like to attend, you must register here. We'll send out the meeting details on the day via Meetup, but in the meantime make sure you are set up and ready to go by downloading and installing the Zoom client: https://zoom.us/support/download. If you don't want to install the Zoom client there is a web client, but it's not as fully featured and you'll still need to sign in with a Zoom account to use it.

**Working Through The Problem: How Developers Can Get Involved With Research**
We talk a lot about user research being a “team sport” but this doesn’t always work out in reality. It can be tricky for non-researchers to make time in their schedules on something not seen as their “day job”. This talk is about why taking part in user research is a vital task for developers, ways you can start talking to dev teams and managers about making space in sprints for research, and how analysis can create a better product. We will also look at how to do research without a researcher effectively and where even small amounts of research can yield important insights.

**About the speaker**
Chad Gowler is a user researcher and accessibility consultant working for a government department based in Sheffield. Before that, they have seven years of development experience in Python, Ruby and Javascript.

In their spare time, they are in various user groups talking about gender, accessibility, mental health and gaming for social good, or chilling out on their Animal Crossing island.
