WE ARE ONLY HUMAN!
... which means we do not assess well Risk, Uncertainty and Ignorance when we make decisions (especially around investments - and perhaps regarding whether to start a business). Worried, yet? You should be...
We humans (and our organisations) are biased to:
- moderately avoid risk;
- strongly avoid uncertainty; and
- powerfully avoid ignorance – sometimes to our detriment.
This speaker is hard to find, but NSIN is proud to present a man who speaks to the real nature of financial markets / business decisions and their inherent incentives and emotionally-driven machinations.
Our amazing speaker - Jack Gray (http://www.celebrityspeakers.com.au/jack-gray/)
Jack is an independent investment adviser to funds in Australia and overseas; a director of Brookvine (http://www.brookvine.com.au/39/team/38/Dr-Jack-Gray), a specialist adviser on alternative assets; a director of Arrowstreet (http://www.arrowstreetcapital.com/about), a Boston-based quant manager; a director and adviser to Janchor, a Hong-Kong-based hedge fund; and a professor at the Centre for Investment Manager Research at UTS.
In 2013 aiCIO Magazine (http://www.ai-cio.com/) declared him to be one of the world’s 10 most influential academics in institutional investing. Jack is one of Australia’s Special Representatives for UNHCR (http://unhcr.org.au/unhcr/) and is hedging the threat of Alzheimers by learning Egyptian hieroglyphics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_hieroglyphs) :-o
