What we're about

There's lots of great comedy in Northampton. I'm creating this group to help us take advantage of all the great things going on. I'm responsible for some, but I just like going to see comedy, and the more of us in the audience, the funnier the show.

Workshop: Improv For Beginners (9 Week Course - Week 3)

New class intake, for anyone who wants to come and start from scratch! Ever wanted to give improv a go? Ever come along to one of Tom Young's workshops, and been a bit intimidated by all the guys who've been improvising together for a year or more? Well, this is the chance to come in at ground level! Improv is NOT just for comedians - it's a useful life skill for everyone, as it improves listening skills, team work, communication, and creative process, and has the added benefit of being fun! We've had teachers, actors, musicians, comedians, ex-service people, hairdresses, plumbers, lawyers, writers, and more - all of whom have found value in what we do; and several have gone on to perform with The Same Faces. Tom's going to spend roughly 9 weeks (maybe more if necessary) going over the basic fundamentals of improv, before folding this new group into the existing workshop posse! That way, whatever we're doing in the main workshop, you'll all have the same fundamentals to work with! So come along, and give improv a go for the first time (even if you've been doing improv for a while, feel free to come along - it never hurts to brush up on the basics)! Our sessions are structured in the following way: 7pm - Beginners 8:30pm - Advanced Drop In 10pm - End/Drinking If you'd like to attend the advanced drop-in, you're welcome to stay, but it will probably be a little out of your depth for the first few weeks. This two month course costs £60. Tom asks that you pay up front - mainly in order to encourage you to come every week; if you miss weeks, you will be lost when you come back, as we progress through the basics quickly, so regular attendance is advised. He's also fairly confident that you'll have fallen in love with it by the end of the first month! Electronic payment via direct transfer, BACs, or Paypal is the preferred method (details available from Tom in person). The fee covers all of Tom's beginners workshops that month (including those in Leicester, if you feel like a road trip), and half price entry to The Same Faces' short-form shows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyxHujdRIpk
