This is a group for anyone who is interested in taking their sewing, quilting, embroidery, or machine skills to the next level with exposure to events and workshops led by subject matter experts in their sewing specialty.
The Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is composed of Neighborhood Groups which allow sewists with different interests to learn more and expand their mastery amongst a group of fellow enthusiasts. We also do sewing projects for charity and community support. Previous projects have included Quilts for Valor, duffle bags for children in foster care, and dresses for girls in the Appalachians.
Neighborhood group meetings are held during weekdays, evenings, and even weekends so sewists can find groups that fit their busy schedules. Meetings generally last 1- 1 1/2 hours long with a presentation on some topic, show-and-tell of member projects, and discussion and/or assistance with other members who have sewing questions.
The American Sewing Guild is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to sewing as an art and life skill. We'd love to have you join our group and see what we're about!
