This is for anyone who buys food from local farms or farmer's markets, organic or not, or buys artisan pickles, jams etc, or anyone whose kids school participates in a farm to school lunch program. The new Food Safety Act could put them all out of business due to hazy language and onerous regulations. The FDA is open to comments until Nov. 15th from the public. Go To: http://sustainableagr... if you want to save your farmer's market. It will take a little effort on your part but won't it be worth it??

Pass it on. We have until NOV 15.

The deadline for comments on the extremely harmful Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) has been extended by one week, to Friday, November 22.

Rumors are that only 5000 comments have been filed. Your comments are vital to getting regulators to recognize the flaws in these proposed regulations, which could fundamentally change organic and other farming practices. In the past we have won changes to problematic policies like these, but public input and interest are the crucial piece needed to win.

Take a few minutes and go to regulations.gov to file, or if you want a little more guidance first go to sustainableagriculture.net and click through to make comments. You can also read additional background and find comment templates here.

This will only take a few minutes and is very important.

Thank you,
Jack Kittredge, NOFA/Mass Policy Director
