What we're about

We are a group of active people from the northwest suburbs who enjoy getting together to participate in a variety of sports, games, and social events. Come join us!

Northwest Sports & Social is not a money-making enterprise. Most NWSS events are free to attend, but we do ask for a contribution of $5 per year to cover the cost of maintaining the presence of the group on meetup.com. Any other funds are collected and used at the time to pay for the direct cost of activities, such as tennis court fees or pool table rental.

NWSS exists to provide a wide variety of activities in which to stay active, meet people through common interests, and have fun. All participants of NWSS are required to be respectful at all times, and behave as polite, considerate adults. Behavior that demeans another member or makes anyone feel uncomfortable will not be tolerated.

Joining us is easy! All members are required to use their real name and have a clear, head-shot photo. We want to know what you look like when you show up for meetup events!

Members who are inactive for over a year are removed from the group. If you have been removed and would like to rejoin, simply reapply for membership.

May NWSS help you stay active, make friends, and add joy to your life.

Game Night at Fox & Hound

Fox & Hound

It's the last Monday of the month... Let's play some games! Find a partner, bring a partner or play solo! Champions will be crowned in the usual way, so bring that competitive spirit and enjoy a game of ping-pong, pool, darts, shuffleboard, Euchre, Connect 4, Jumbo Jenga, and of course any favorite card or board game that you'd like to bring from home. The staff is awesome, the food is good, the games are free, but most importantly, this is a great group of people to play with! 😊

IT'S BACK!! Wednesday night Euchre/Spades (We'll vote)

Alley 64 Bar & Grill

Join us to play euchre or spades every Wednesday at 7:00. Popular vote will decide. If playing euchre: Note: We play "according to Hoyle" with the following exceptions: 1) We play "stick the dealer." 2) Lead on lone hands remains with the first player (still playing) to the left of the dealer, regardless of who calls trump. If playing spades we'll play to 250 and 5 bags (if we have more than 1 table). If only one table we will play to 500 and 10 bags. This allows people to play with different partners.

Sunday Morning Indoor Tennis at Centegra Healthbridge in Huntley

Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center

$10 (actual cost -- never an up-charge here!) gets you two hours of exciting indoor doubles tennis! We'll have 3 courts, so space is limited to the first 12 players who sign up. Sorry, no guests; only members of Northwest Sports & Social. Court availability is subject to change based on response, so please RSVP now if you want to play! A waiting list is available. Please arrive by 9:20 so we can all start on time at 9:30! I'll be collecting the money, so bring cash. No-shows or changes of RSVP with less than 24 hours notice forfeit the right to sign up for future indoor events this 2018/19 winter season. If your plans change, update your RSVP so someone else can play. And if you're on the waitlist, be ready to play if someone drops out before the RSVPs close. (See "Indoor Tennis RSVP Policy" discussion for more details.) This is a great deal and well worth the drive through the country. If anyone cares to carpool, post in the comments below. After tennis, those so inclined will go out for a bite to eat. Hope to see you there!
