Norwich Saturday 5R is currently run by one of our visiting London teachers - Ruth Hirst - with support from a Norwich-based producer and crew. We have been regularly dancing at a beautiful church in Aylsham Road for four years. The classes are open and there are normally first-timers at each session.
5Rhythms is an improvised dance practice - sometimes referred to as movement meditation - that anyone can do, whatever your age, shape, gender, mobility or fitness level. No prior knowledge is needed - there are no steps to learn and nothing to get right or wrong.
Some 35 years ago in California Gabrielle Roth created the 5Rhythms map - Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness - and a methodology of teaching and training. The invitation in a 5Rhythms class is to consciously travel through this landscape of movement - which is called a 'Wave'. By being fully in our body and allowing our movement to be relaxed, free and authentic, we release tension naturally and find our deeper source.
For more about this amazing dance practice, see the 5R Global website: www.5rhythms.com. We look forward to welcoming you.
