What we’re about

**MAY UPDATE: We are taking a short pause while we update the program format and look to improve the events all round. New events will be posted as soon as we're ready to go again!**

We've all been there - the meetup groups and tandems with people at different levels, speaking 80% English and 20% German because of the lack of organisation and structure. This group is for passionate language learners who haven't found a consistent way to practice and improve speaking German.

Not-so-fast is different. We are an exclusive community where native speaking Germans host a small group over dinner. Learners are always at the same or very similar level and the meetup has a structured format with stimulating content and fun games to complete over dinner. You'll be sent a program with helpful vocab ahead of time, which will guide you along the way. Because once you step inside our events there is only one rule - only German can be spoken until you depart!

Below is a description for each of the levels we offer. In order to keep everyone engaged at each dinner please ensure you choose the level that is right for you. We will ask people that are too advanced or too beginner to hold off on joining until we have programs live to match your level.

A1.2 (Coming soon)

You're up to speed on elementary verbs and nouns and basic conjugation. You've just learned the most basic spoken past tense using 'haben' and 'sein'.

A2

You've learned somewhere between A2.1 and A2.2 and have covered most of the basic verbs, nouns and some adjectives, but are far from mastering them and most likely forget a lot of them. You understand grammar in a logical sense but struggle to use it conversationally.

B1

You've likely learned somewhere between B1.1 and B1.2. You've got a decent command of using past tense and are starting to join long sentences with conjunctions, but still make a fair few mistakes. Your vocabulary is good enough that you can keep up in a conversation most of the time.

B2

You're conversational german is fast and you can keep up in a conversation with native Germans. Your command of vocabulary, grammar is very good, although you still speak very much like a non-native with a number of grammar mistakes.
