Weekday Mystery walk - Wittens Reserve

Location visible to members

Ok, after exploring Yarra Brae walk, which we discovered is called the Bridle Trail by the Scout Camp, I've decided to do Wittens Reserve, possibly including Mt Lofty instead. My hip just didn't like the walk, as there was a lot of down hill to get to near the end of the walk, where we encountered rapids which were awesome, (pics on Tuesdays walk) and of course lots of up hill on the way back. I'm opting for doing Wittens Reserve and if we get to the end and people want to go up the hill and over Mt Lofty, then I might allow myself to be dragged up.

If we don't go up the hill, (fingers, toes and internal organs crossed, lol), we will go meandering through the bush following a trail which runs back toward the main trail, running close to the Yarra in several spots. I've only ever been on this at night time, but am sure we won't get lost, as the trail is fairly easy to see.

Depending on whether we hike up the hill to Mt Lofty, the walk will be 4-5kms, 1-1.5hrs return. As usual, we'll go to a local cafe for coffee/tea after the walk, for those able to stay and chat.

We will meet at the car park at Wittons Reserve, Reserve Road, Wonga Park. If you continue straight along Brushy Park Road which becomes Homestead Road and then Reserve Road until the end you will hit the car park and reserve.

A mystery walk, somewhere in the Maroondah/Yarra Valley. These walks will be a little different, and they will also be posted on the Mount Evelyn Walking and Adventure Group (MWAG) site, so we may have members from both groups attending.

The walk venue will be confirmed a day or so before the day of the walk. These walks will be approximately 1hr, easy to moderate terrain. Walkers will set the pace, but bear in mind, I'm not aiming for these to be workout walks, but they won't be strolls either. Some will be places we have been before, some totally new. I'm open to suggestions from those interested in coming along.

Please make sure you have good footwear, preferably hiking boots, or runners with decent grip, as the paths we travel on will vary greatly, from concrete paving, gravel tracks, dirt tracks, and board walks. The aim of these walks is to explore the local bushland pockets, and the Parks and reserves around the Maroondah and Yarra Valley.

Meeting at 10am at the venue. We can carpool if it helps, so make sure you let me know prior to the day if you would like a lift. ( I can take 3 passengers)

We will find somewhere for a cuppa after the walk within the local area.

Please RSVP if you want to join me. Contact me if needed on[masked]
