What we're about

Nottingham EcoCommunity is a one-stop big-tent meetup group for people, projects and organisations aiming to improve ecology, economy and community in the Nottingham area.

This includes, but is not limited to: sustainability, recycling, upcycling, repairing and re-using, waste reduction, redistributing leftover food, community meals and social dining, supporting food banks and feeding the needy, reducing poverty especially in ecological and community-oriented ways, skillsharing, alternative economies, allotmenting, kitchen gardening, organic gardening, permaculture, community gardening, urban green spaces and woodlands, conservation, foraging, public food harvesting, animal welfare, traditional and natural crafts, eco-houses, energy use and cost reduction, alternative energy usage, anti-fracking, cycling, community-building, organisation and cohesion.

The group will organise some meetups of its own to bring people together and help them meet each other and discover what opportunities are available to do this work in Nottingham. However rather than duplicate the effort of the many organisations and projects which are already doing much of this work this group will instead publicise and signpost them in hopes of increasing their activity, effect and coherence. In order to reduce email to members not every meetup of an event organised by other groups will be announced: some will simply be created and so it may be useful to study the calendar periodically. Information on websites, projects and activities available in Nottingham will be placed on the group's Pages, beginning at https://www.meetup.com/Nottingham-EcoCommunity/about/ .

Members are encouraged to play an active part in the group by making suggestions, bringing information, putting on events and spreading the word to others. We also have a Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/NottinghamE... (https://www.facebook.com/groups/NottinghamEcoCommunity/)
