EVERGLADES SEAFOOD FESTIVAL ---- THINK STONE CRABS

Details
This is our Second Road Trip of the New Year. The festival opens at 10 on Saturday 12, 2022. The plan is to get there by 11.
In addition to shiploads of fresh seafood served up by local fishermen and restaurants, this year’s festival will feature 100 arts and crafts booths, a carnival and continuous country music and bluegrass throughout the weekend. To purchase Alcohol you will need to bring some cash no credit cards for alcohol ... lol
I suggest you bring sunscreen, a lawn or beach chair and a Big Seafood Appetite. If you haven't tried alligator, now's your chance!
For us this is a one day, all day event. I suggest getting there early before the crowds arrive. This way you can avoid the traffic that is sure to challenge the town of 500.
If you are interested in car pooling, let me know if you are able to drive others or are looking for a ride.
Some Background:
HISTORIC EVERGLADES CITY
This area was settled in the 1870s as a farming and fishing community. The Storter family bought a homestead on the river in 1889 and lodged visiting sports fishermen at what is now the Rod & Gun Club.
In 1923 Barron Collier selected the little village of Everglades as the headquarters for construction of the Tamiami Trail (US-41) from Tampa to Miami and the seat of his new Collier County.
Our historic City Hall building (behind the stage) was once the County Courthouse. The County moved to East Naples in 1962 after the population had shifted. You will notice many Olde Florida houses that have been lovingly restored in our neighborhood.
The town’s first Seafood Festival was held in 1970 to raise money for playground equipment, and that charitable tradition is still alive and well with proceeds from the festival going to local causes and college scholarships for local students.
