How to get that DSLR out of 'Auto' Mode
Hi there Meetup Members! Time for the next round of this popular meetup. Check your schedule and get involved. Due to the space constraints at my small studio, this class will only be open to the first 10 people to RSVP. In order to help determine if this is a good meetup for you to attend, here is some additional information about the high level topics we'll be covering: *Intro to Metering Modes. *Intro to exposure settings and the exposure triangle (shutter, aperture, ISO) *Basic modes of operation - Auto, Program, Priority, Manual *Intro to White Balance and Color Correction *Intro to Focus Modes and when to use them This class may be a little slow if you're already familiar with camera modes of operation and exposure concepts, but we will pace ourselves for the group that arrives so it is possible that we get into more complex topics during discussion. Please let me know if you have any questions about whether this is a good meetup for you, or what we'll be covering. Thanks and hope to see you there! John

What we're about

Started by professional headshot, portrait and real estate photographer John Glover in 2016, this group began by offering free beginning level instruction on basic camera operation and has evolved to offer deeper and broader meetups and training. Educational meetups and workshops covering topics like how to start or run a photography business, studio and portrait lighting techniques, and headshots are regularly offered along with some of the original basic courses intended to get you started if you're brand new to photography. There are still a number of free or inexpensive opportunities in this meetup group to learn photography and network with others while more advanced courses are also being developed and will be offered over time for a nominal fee.

One of the primary goals that John established at the onset of this group was to quickly connect with and assist the local photography community through well thought out instruction that should be useful to serious hobbyists and professionals alike.

Although it shouldn't be overwhelming to anyone, this group offers deeper technical advice and instruction than most other casual meetups. If you're looking for something more in depth and technical than a photo walk, then check us out!

Guest speakers and instructors with plenty of diverse real-world experience in photography will be included at times as well.
