What we’re about

(Please click the 'read more' link to see what we are about and the rules that we wish to adhere to as a group)

OC Tennis is here to help enhance your game and enable you meet new people to play with. Looking to have fun, get exercise and meet new people? Join us! We play mostly in Tustin and Irvine.
This tennis group is mostly for intermediate to advanced players but we do have one beginner night (Wednesdays) available. Co-organizer Nick also offers private lessons and is an open level player.

If you do not know your approximate rating, use the official NTRP guidelines below to rate yourself. Though this is subjective, generally an intermediate to advanced player would fall in 3.5 and above for this recreational group. \

Also note - Organizers will not be at every event, the OC Tennis Admin profile will show up as host for each event, but we will typically rsvp on our own profiles if we are attending.

Rules for this group:
1. Be kind to other members. Don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you.
2. Bring a can of balls with you for ample play.
3. We use public courts for this Meetup. We do not have anything that enables us to monopolize the courts at any facility. Please be respectful of those who may be waiting, or to anyone using the courts as you would if you went to a public court outside of Meetup.
4. If you see anyone looking around confused as to who is with Meetup, please be friendly and help them find those of us who are with Meetup at any scheduled session we have listed.
5. If there are not enough courts for everyone waiting, please play shortened doubles sets to 4 so that those waiting are given the chance to play and not having to wait for too long to get in. Once more courts open up we can utilize them to get more people playing all at once. Singles play is fine once there are enough courts so that every person who RSVP'd is able to play which is more of a priority than singles would be.
6. Please RSVP to the event you wish to attend and do not just show up expecting to be prioritized to get on the court with those who did RSVP. Purposely going down to the courts early and then taking up a court on purpose from those who RSVP'd is really not cool, let's please all try to be cool and inclusive ok, especially to those who have RSVp'd for the designated start time.
7. Lastly, always be generous with line calls, any doubt should always grant the point to the opponent. We are here for fun, not to win a tournament or prove how awesome we are. Earn your points well and do not be a jerk over a close line shot that could go either way, we do not have Hawkeye to dispute in or out calls. And does it really matter that much anyhow? Just have fun and compete with dignity and respect to your opponent. Competing in a friendly and generous way is much better than winning RECREATIONAL tennis sessions! :)

Lastly, Meetup charges us to keep this group active. So if you are a regular player at our events, please consider tossing in a donation every now and then so we can keep this alive and going for many years to come! Typically just 5 bucks every 6 months from will do the trick to keep us afloat! The 4 organizers split the amount right now, but any help would be awesome! Thank you so much in advance!
