What we're about

Whether you're working on the next great American novel or wondering if you'd enjoy creative writing, come join us on Saturday morning. We provide three randomly selected prompts promptly at 10:15 AM, and after 25-35 minutes of extemporaneous writing, everyone reads their results. All levels of ability welcome! All genres acceptable. Writers' block busted regularly.

Our first anthology, Brevity in Paradise, is now available on amazon.com!

Established in 2012, the OC Writers Guild meets every Saturday in Newport Beach near Fashion Island. Membership is free. There are no dues or fees, but you have to BYOPP (bring your own pen and paper).

Please arrive by 10:15 a.m. with pen and paper (or laptop, etc.) and be ready to write! At 10:30 a.m. we close the door, and you’ll be given three randomly selected writing prompts. How you use (or not use) those prompts while we write for the next 25 to 30 minutes is up to you. Expect the unexpected! Latecomers—the prompts and the ending time will be posted on the door for you. There are plenty of desks outside the conference room, and you’re welcome to come in after writing. We meet in the Sword Room, a second floor conference room in the southeast corner of the Newport Beach public library on Avocado, next door to City Hall. Updates are made to Meetup when there are scheduling conflicts.
