(= LO9NC7( For nearing a year now, I have volunteered to keep alive, pay for, and take top lead in the group, and have done so, and the group has grown steadily. But for me all this is just a community service, as though I am a user and lover of Android, my programming is instead for the general web, using CSS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascading_Style_Sheets), JavaScript (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript), PostgreSQL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostgreSQL), Perl6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perl_6), Python (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_%2528programming_language%2529), Lua (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lua_(programming_language)), Subversion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Subversion), XSLT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XSLT), Bash (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bash_(Unix_shell)), XQuery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XQuery), and, yes, and sometimes (but only to run the prior systems) a tiny bit of Java (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language)) (which is also used for coding Android), but never Android (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_%2528operating_system%2529) coding. So, on top of that, doing the work to run this group, if I'm having to do most of the work and when it's on a topic I never work in, well, increasingly, that's something I just can't afford nor am interested in having.) LO9NC7= ) (= LO9NDA( So keep your & our group alive & thriving: step up to the plate! And on that note, great news:
(1) last time, Our 13th Classic Meeting on 2011.06.08(Wed) (http://Meetup.com/OCAndroid/events/18077331), that was the first meeting to run itself, even when I wasn't there, and I heard it went pretty well. Moreover,
(2) afterwards, in response to my asking for leader volunteers, 4 members stepped up to the plate. Quoting from last meeting's Talk posts: (= LO9NSE( http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/member/3/7/a/1/thumb_13454241.jpeg (https://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid/members/6002927/) Jim Liu (https://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid/members/6002927/) Hi guys. Good meeting yesterday. ...the group agreed yesterday that it would be fun to work on a dev project together. We further agreed to meet in 2 weeks to present project ideas. ...

I think we can cover more ground by gathering two or more tomes per month. At this stage Android has an opportunity to gain ground in the mobile arena. ...

We are planning/hoping to have another meetup on 22nd to work on a new project, like Jim said. If not, can you create an event and let people know the same?

I would have been happy to help, but I feel someone who is miles ahead in android development would be a great asset to the group as an asst. organizer. Thom would be a great leader too!
I sincerely hope that we can roll out few apps as team! :)

Right in front of me[ I work for the building], I see a stack of routers, and one of them is for that location. So it should be deployed any day now.

For now, we continue per (item LJ21L5 started & listed on Our 12th Classic Meeting on 2011.05.11(Wed) listing (http://meetu.ps/Q2bG)) with these exceptions:(= LO9ICN(As of mtg day 1AM, I haven't yet heard anything from our venue host Hamed (https://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid/members/14364784/), as to confirm he will be brining free pizza as his company promised.) LO9ICN= ) (= LO9II4 = takin_orders_for_Chipotle_LO9II4(So by 4pm the day of the event, specify in your public RSVP if you want Chipotle (http://chipotle.com/en-US/Default.aspx?type=default)'s brought to you -- Top Rated (actually #1) Mexican Fast-Food Chain by 2011.08 Consumer Reports (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2011/07/01/137549777/best-fast-food-chains-consumer-reports-readers-weigh-in) --I saw the report: Chipotle ranks #1 of 8 leading Mexican food chains as reviewed by 36,733 readers! And um, I concur! It's my favorite: it's healthy, super-tasty, super environmentally-conscious, yet surprisingly affordable with heaping servings making one HUGE burrito!). On my way to the meeting, I will pick up your big burrito from nearby Chipotle (http://www.chipotle.com/en-us/find/find.aspx?loc=7700%20Irvine%20Center%20Drive,%20#800%20Irvine,%20CA) --just reimburse me. The cost will be $9/person with a drink (soda) and you can request any style burrito listed on "Burritos by the Box" (http://www.chipotle.com/FaxMenus/BurritosByTheBox/1026.pdf) (You'll see the price there, too: it's $7.80 for that big burrito+$.50 soda+$.70 take-out tax=$9). This meeting we won't be getting a Box (which also comes with free chips and salsa/guacamole) --that is unless somehow 6+ people hurry up and RSVP their burrito requests say before 3pm-- but hopefully for the next meeting we can get the Box, too!
) LO9II4= ) (= LOAIH2 = ideally_free_pizza_LOAIH2( We also hopefully will have free pizza. Now, mtg day 1:32PM, I get SMSed back from our venue host Hamed (https://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid/members/14364784/) just " I'll b there. Pizza is covered, not drinks" ( drinks are available for a charge from the adjacent soda machine). So "Pizza is covered" and I am hoping he's bringing it as he did last time but this time hopefully on time when we eat (meeting start, 6pm); last time I was there (http://meetu.ps/Q2bG), at ~6:30pm, he brought Costco pizza.
