Farmington Day of Games
Oakland County Gamers (OCG) is bringing our popular DAY OF GAMES to the Farmington Community Library every month. These events will be a meet and greet to play board games. Popular games include Agricola, Dominion, Splendor, Pandemic, and many more. If you haven’t played board games before, there are so many options available to newcomers. OCG has designated Game Coordinators on hand to welcome newcomers into the group and teach games during the first half of the Meetup. Each Game Coordinator will assess the knowledge of their group and decide on games that are be appropriate for an enjoyable experience. These are all great games that balance problem solving, player cooperation, light diplomacy, and (most importantly) social enjoyment. Everyone is welcome to leave comments below about which games they would like to learn and/or play. If you do not own a specific game you would like to play, other members may be able to bring to the meetup for you to experience. For the year 2018, all Farmington Day of Game meetups will be located at the Main Library in Farmington Hills located on 12 Mile Road. Entering the library, take the stairs to the right past the front desk, and we will be in the main meeting room upstairs, the Auditorium. We will post signs at the entrance of the library to help direct newcomers to our location in the library. Oakland County Gamers (OCG): OCG prides itself on being a novice friendly group that supports teaching games and encouraging interaction with fellow gamers. Our goal is not only to build an awareness of the hobby, but also to create a friendly, social environment for those in the community.

What we're about

If you are looking to find local board game enthusiasts AND support local charities, this is the Meetup for you. OCG is a volunteer run organization that focuses on teaching board games as an avenue to build and strengthen personal connections, relationships, and a local and online community. All regular events are free and we have Coordinators on hand to assist you in joining groups to play games and make new friends. The locations are chosen to support local community organizations and charity and offer the opportunity to support them while you play.

We currently have members interested in everything from Catan and Ticket to Ride through Mare Nostrum and Food Chain Magnate, but this will ebb and flow depending on those participating. Don’t worry if you’ve only every played games like Sorry and Monopoly. Family board games have come a long way and OCG is here to teach and introduce you to next generation of games.

Our main event is scheduled for every 2nd Saturday of the month. Having just celebrated our 2 Year Anniversary, we have a very active core and consistently attract approximately 60-90 people to our 2nd Saturday gaming event.

Smaller events are also posted throughout the month to give people the opportunity to game when available. We are currently looking for dedicated teachers, event planners, and volunteers to further grow the community. So, l if you are interested, please contact the Organizer, Joe Brown for more information.

Looking forward to gaming with you! Thanks!
