San Diego Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, San Diego Mini Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. This event is taking San Diego by storm and inspiring a strong “Maker Revolution” fueled by creativity, ingenuity and innovation. It will take place Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

“We are very excited to be organizing this event right here in San Diego County. We believe Maker Faire is a leading indicator of an important development. As evidenced by 3D printers, laser cutters, low-cost embeddable electronics, open-source electronic prototyping platforms and wearable technology there is a change underway which makes it possible for more people to learn by doing, making things, and developing projects and products. It’s proving to be important to education, entrepreneurialism, economic development, and competitiveness. For the combined San Diego and Tijuana economic region this movement will be of great importance.” said Travis Good, San Diego Mini Maker Faire Co-Organizer.

“Learning opportunities for Young Maker and grown-up-kids of all ages exist, from rocket launches to marshmallow shooters to soldering, you can get involved in hands-on building activities at Maker Faire that are fun and educational.” said Katie Rast, San Diego Mini Maker Faire Co-Organizer.

The maker community of San Diego is representative of a region of technological development, creativity and innovation. The Faire brings it all together and celebrates the importance of local resourcefulness and the inventive spirit.

San Diego Mini Maker Faire is an independently produced celebration of the San Diego local maker culture that reflects the creativity, spirit and ingenuity of our community. It is a community-based learning event that inspires everyone to become a maker, and connect with people and projects in our community.
