Who We Are
The OC Sound Chorus is a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an amazing organization of over 23,000 women from around the globe who love a cappella singing with 4-part harmonies. This worldwide, non-profit organization is committed to advancing the musical art form of a cappella barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance. Sweet Adelines empowers women by helping them find their voices, build confidence, enhance vocal abilities, improve leadership and management qualities, and create a lifelong support system of sisterhood and friendship. If you love to sing, this is the group for you! Our members come from all backgrounds---from those who are just starting out to those who've sung in choruses and choirs all their life.
How to Join
Prospective members will be asked to learn 2 of our repertoire songs for their audition, and will have the opportunity to audition after attending 3 rehearsals. We will provide you with sheet music as well as audio learning tracks to help you practice at home. Our goal is to help you succeed, so don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions! We are here to support you and make sure you’re having lots of fun along the way!
Ongoing Membership
Each week you'll receive direction from our Master Director, Bonnie McKibben. and you'll learn new and exciting ways to bring out the very best singer in you. In addition to weekly Tuesday night rehearsals, we perform in and around our area about 4-6 times per year for local festivals, holiday events, and shows of our own. We also participate in the Region 21 Regional Competition in the spring of each year. In preparation for competition, we will have occasional additional rehearsals with experts (coaches) who are brought in, and members are expected to attend those coaching sessions. Monthly member dues cover our expenses for music, our Director, facilities rentals, coaches and member supplies.
