What we're about

ODSC brings together the open source and data science communities with the goal of helping its members learn, connect and grow.
The focus of this Meetup group is to allow ODSC to work with Meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations to present informative lectures, workshops, code sprints and networking events to help grow the use of open source languages and tools within the data science and data-centric community. As such, our specific goals are:

1. Build a collaborative group to work with other Meetup groups, non-profits, and other organizations.

2. Promote the use of open source languages and tools amongst data scientists and others.

3. Host educational workshops.

4. Spread awareness of new open source languages and tools that can be used in data science.

5. Contribute back to the open source community.

Who is this meetup for?

• Data engineers, analysts, scientists, and other practitioners

• R, Python and other software engineers who work with data or want to learn

• Data visualization developers and designers

• Non-technical team leads, executives, and other decision makers from data centric startups and large companies looking to utilize open source tools

ML System Design for Continuous Experimentation

Online event

To access this webinar, please register here: https://hubs.li/Q0112D3r0

Topic: ML System Design for Continuous Experimentation

Speaker: Harpreet Sahota, Data Scientist, Comet

Harpreet is a thought leader in the Data Science space and hosts The Artists of Data Science podcast

Abstract:

While ML model development is a challenging process, the management of these models becomes even more complex once they're in production.

Shifting data distributions, upstream pipeline failures, and model predictions impacting the very dataset they're trained on can create thorny feedback loops between development and production.
In this live webinar, we will

· Examine some naive ML workflows that don't take the development-production feedback loop into account and explore why they break down.

· Showcase some system design principles that will help manage these feedback loops more effectively.

· Explore several industry case studies where teams have applied these principles to their production ML systems.

Topic: What Can You Expect from ML in 2022

Speaker: Lee Baker, General Secretary at the AI Infrastructure Alliance

Lee is based out of the UK, he is responsible for the proceedings and growth of the AI Infrastructure Alliance (AIIA) as well as working at Pachyderm to deploy programs and initiatives that enable customer-facing teams to execute the core aspects of their jobs more effectively. When not shuttling his 3 children around, he can most often be found cycling, running and swimming around England's South Coast.

Abstract:

As 2021 comes to a close, the challenges of productionizing and scaling the team’s machine learning projects still remain at large. With all the big advancements in AI/ML, what are some actionable learnings for your team?
In this webinar join us as we talk about

- Noteworthy highlights in the AI/ML space from 2021

- Upcoming trends in ML/AI for 2022

- Market movement (AIIA member valuations, acquisition and consolidation)

- The shift to ‘Data Monitoring’ from ‘Model monitoring’ OR the evolution of ‘DataOps’ - reference Andrew Ng

- Bedfellows for 2022: How hardware will meet ISV e.g. Nvidia/HPE and the AIIA ecosystem.

- Winners & Losers - Best of breed vs Production ML on ‘so-called’ E2E solutions. The new data providers and the role of analytics.
