Wading Into PostgreSQL Authentication
Details
Abstract: An overview of the different ways to authenticate connections built into PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL has a robust authentication system with multiple ways to authenticate connections, which is great, but it's also rather confusing when compared to a DBMS with a much more narrow scope. "Wading Into PostgreSQL authentication" summarizes the different authentication mechanisms available with commentary and notes based on experimentation.
