Earlier this year there was a major announcement about the future of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com, with new ownership and leadership (http://www.poynter.org/2016/media-consultant-jim-friedlich-will-direct-philadelphia-newspaper-nonprofit/430746/) in the form of a nonprofit. Come hear from their leaders.
Jim Friedlich, executive director and CEO of the newly-formed Institute for Journalism in New Media, and Burt Herman, the institute's director of innovation projects, will join us to talk about the work of the Philadelphia-based nonprofit. The institute's mission to cultivate sustainable journalism business models extends beyond its subsidiary, the publisher of The Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com. We'll hear from Jim and Burt about what kinds of projects they're looking to fund and what excites them about the digital news business in 2017.
