Gender dynamics: How to navigate workplace and source relations

Details
What We'll Do
Join ONA St. Louis on Thursday, July 18, in the Purina Boardroom at T-REX in downtown St. Louis as we discuss how to navigate gender relations in the workplace and how to handle difficult or challenging situations with your sources.
While this event will focus on tools for women and LGBTQ+ folx to use in their workplaces, we encourage men to attend and learn how to become better allies.
What You Can Expect
Per usual, we'll have free food, beer and nonalcoholic beverages. The event will be held at T-Rex downtown at 911 Washington Ave., Ste. 500.
There are several parking lots you can park in, take note they do cost money. In addition, T-REX has a small, free parking lot on the northwest side of the building near The Over/Under Bar and Grill.
Once you are inside the building, take the elevator to the fifth floor and head into the common area.
Please note: This event starts promptly at 6 p.m., so please arrive on time. If you have any issues finding the space or getting inside the building, please call Steph Kukuljan at 314-971-0615 or Dana Rieck at 412-390-9315.
Schedule
5:30 to 6 p.m.
We typically give people about a half hour to arrive at the venue. Take your time to sign in, grab some food and drink, and mingle.
6 to 6:10 p.m.
At the start of every event, we update the group on any upcoming events, initiatives in the works, etc.

Panel Q&A
Crystal Martin will join Kae Petrin and Pauline Kim for this discussion. Martin is a software developer and consultant at Slalom, a co-organizer of the Strange Loop Conference, and diversity in tech & business advocate. She is also the founder and creative director of the Untitled Project, a photo project that blasts through the stereotype of “tech types” to show technologists for who they are…unique, yet everyday people.
Questions are encouraged throughout the entire workshop, but we'll save time for a brief Q&A at the end. You can also submit questions in advance to stlouis@journalists.org.
ONA St. Louis wants to remind attendees we have members from dozens of St. Louis-area media outlets. We ask that people be mindful and constructive when mentioning local examples in conversation. We encourage our attendees to tweet the event.
First-Timer?
For those who have never attended an Online News Association event before, we are part of the world's largest association of digital journalists. Our mission is to inspire innovation and excellence among journalists to better serve the public.
You do not have to be a member to attend one of our meetups. We do ask that you RSVP well in advance, however, to help us better gauge how much food we will need to order.
