CryptoParty - The Day We Fight Back!

Details
On February 11th we'll be launching our Don't Spy on Us (https://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2014/dont-spy-on-us-help-get-the-word-out) campaign to stop mass surveillance, along with a coalition of civil liberties organisations: ARTICLE19 (http://www.article19.org/), Big Brother Watch (http://www.bigbrotherwatch.org.uk/), English PEN (http://www.englishpen.org/), Liberty (http://www.liberty-human-rights.org.uk/) & Privacy International (https://www.privacyinternational.org/).
With international actions (https://thedaywefightback.org/), and a new UK coalition to stop mass surveillance, we thought it would be an excellent idea to run a Crypto Party to show how to improve your personal security and privacy.
The event will take place at 68 Middle Street (http://68middle.st/) with the support of Clearleft (http://www.clearleft.com/)
Cryptoparties (https://www.cryptoparty.in/index) are skill & knowledge sharing sessions which aim to teach people the basic ways of protecting themselves and their data from intrusive surveillance.
Generally the parties deal with how to have private conversations over instant messaging, how to encrypt emails, how to browse anonymously and how to reliably encrypt your hard disk amongst other things.
It is very important that you leave the CryptoParty with tools you can use on a daily basis, and explain to your friends how to do it too. All the attendees should come with device(s) they want to install tools on.
• We’ll discuss why Cryptography, anonymity and anti-tracking tools are important today
• We’ll install online anonymity tools
• We’ll secure our communications
• We’ll make sure we can’t be easily tracked online
• We’ll have a drink and a chat
No prior technical expertise or knowledge is assumed, so ask away about anything.
Bring your devices and your beverage of choice!
