Shape the future of ORG Brighton

Details

Hi,

Lydia, Local Groups Co-ordinator from Open Rights Group here!

You may have noticed that ORG Brighton events aren't very regular at the moment. This is because for the past year it has been run by the core staff of Open Rights Group in London. I love organising events in Brighton - I lived there for three years and it's a wonderful city.

We haveLocal Groups across the UK (https://www.openrightsgroup.org/groups/)that are run by our supporters in their spare time and are vital to our campaigns. And we are looking for supporters in Brighton who want to step up and become organisers!

Getting More Involved in ORG Brighton

We need supporters in Brighton to run the group and contribute ideas for events. Brighton is one of our most successful groups and it has huge potential to continue growing!

ORG has a system set up to support 'Local Organisers' as we call them who run Groups. Read more about it (https://www.openrightsgroup.org/groups/what-is-a-local-group).

The Caroline of Brunswick pub has kindly agreed to support the group and is letting ORG Brighton use their space for free for their future events! With a free venue sorted all we need is for a team of organisers to start running great events.

So: I am holding a meeting with anyone interested to discuss the next steps!

Content of Discussion:

1.30 - 2.00pm Introduction to Local Groups by me, Local Groups Co-ordinator at Open Rights Group

What groups do, how they are run and how ORG supports them.

2.00 - 2.30pm What do you want to see ORG Brighton do?

Having heard about what other groups do and how they work, come up with some ideas for the Brighton group and what its main aims should be.

2.30 - 3.00pm What are the next steps for ORG Brighton?

Discuss in groups what events we could organise over the next few months.

At the end we will optional sign up to help organise ORG Brighton

Coming along to the event will not sign you up to run the group, but you will have the opportunity to speak to others who want to organise something and sign up to an email thread about ORG Brighton events.

Hope you can make it,

Lydia

P.S. I know it's halloween but hopefully you have enough time to fight for digital rights and get your costume sorted!
