MSU Humanitarian Mapathon
MSU Denver Humanitarian Mapathon Meet us in the Auraria Library Room EC111 for Pizza and Mapping 10am-noon As part of Auraria Library's GIS Day Festivities, MSU Denver will be hosting a Humanitarian Mapathon from 10am-noon. Join us and map on behalf of MSU Denver! We'll have computers or bring your own laptop. This mapathon will be a friendly competition between mappers at MSU Denver, CU Boulder, MSU Denver, CSU, MSU Denver, Colorado School of Mines, MSU Denver, and UNC. Absolutely no experience required—just an interest in mapping and a desire to contribute to an OpenStreetMap Humanitarian mapping project. Brief training will be provided! Sign up ahead of time at our meetup event page so we’ll know how much pizza to order. The library is an easy walk from the Auraria @ Colfax station or Auraria West station, or from downtown Denver. After the mapathon, stay for the remaining GIS Day festivities: 12 - 12:30 pm: Talk at the Discovery Wall: "Measuring open geospatial data: Visualizing billions of online contributions to OpenStreetMap" by Jennings Anderson, PhD candidate in Computer Science. 11 am - 5pm: Art with Map Data: Create designs with geospatial data! Use them for stickers or t-shirt designs. 5 - 7 pm: MaptimeMileHigh Social and Lightning Talks, Innovation Garage. Discover a group that meets monthly and chats about mapping tech. All day: Global Photo Marker Map: Come mark your favorite place with a foot, hand, or elbow pic on a map on the Discovery Wall! Afternoon: Geography of Desserts! Potluck cookies and treats in the Innovation Garage! Bring in, or just eat, treats made from recipes tied to place (if you contribute, please bring in a list of ingredients for folks with allergies)
