Digital Identity & Blockchain: Love story or Disaster Waiting to Happen?

Most infosec professionals will agree that the current state of identity management is problematic. In fact, the general consensus of professional and those outside the industry seems to be that we're losing the battle. To some, the Equifax hack was the final straw, we lost.

While Blockchain enthusiasts emphatically explore new applications of the technology across a full spectrum of problems, Digital Identity is one area that seems to hold special potential.

In this talk we'll look at some of the key building blocks of Digital Identity and how those needs are being met with with a new class of blockchain based applications. We'll talk about Self Sovereign Identities and how they approach problems with individual privacy. Ultimately, we attempt to answer the question: Will Blockchain based digital identities provide the foundation we need for meaningful progress in identity management?

Speaker:
Last summer Zak retired from a professional career in info sec to pursue his own work in the digital currency space. Before moving into the world of crypto currencies and blockchain full time he spent time doing malware research at Webroot, log correlation and forensics analysis with LogRhythm, and most recently large scale endpoint security with Tanium. He recently co-founded DISCON, to explore and move forward ideas and research in the digital currency and distributed web space.
