About us
This is the Meetup group for Auckland-area events held by the New Zealand chapter of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).
In addition to the five (5) Auckland Meetups each year (2nd Tuesdays of March, May, July, September, and November) and Meetups in other cities, the OWASP NZ Chapter hosts Training Day events, university-focused conferences (security.ac.nz), and collaborates with AppSec New Zealand to host the annual AppSec New Zealand Conference in Auckland each February.

Technical Topic Speaker: Ricky Gummadi
Ricky Gummadi is a Senior Solution Architect at Microsoft, based in Auckland, focused on AI, cloud architecture, and developer platforms. He works closely with enterprise customers across New Zealand to design and implement production-ready AI systems. Ricky is also part of the core development team contributing to the Agent Governance Toolkit, with a focus on enabling safe, reliable, and governed agentic AI workloads.
Talk Title: Agentic AI Governance
As AI systems evolve from assistants to autonomous agents, the focus shifts from what the model says to what the system actually does. This talk introduces the Agent Governance Toolkit (AGT), a framework for bringing deterministic, runtime governance to agentic systems. We’ll explore why prompt-based safety is not sufficient for production scenarios, walk through the OWASP Agentic Top 10 risks, and look at how policies, identity, sandboxing, and observability can be applied to mitigate these risks in real-world architectures.----
OWASP Auckland is on Meetup for now - please watch this space. We're always looking for presenters and topics for future meetings - contact Austin (austin.chamberlain@appsec.org.nz) if you have an idea for a topic, or a presentation you'd like to make. That way, it won't always be Austin talking about what he's been working on recently.
The Auckland-area OWASP Meetup usually takes place on the third Tuesdays of March, May, July, September, and November. There is no Meetup in January, as our members enjoy their holidays.
