What we're about
Upcoming events (5+)
Hey guys! We're going kayaking on Saturday, July 20th at Wisconsin Dells (about a 3 hour drive from Oak Park). This will be an all-day event, expect a 5 hour kayak ride, plus transportation, so prepare for that. The plan is to start early to drive to the destination, kayak all day, and then get back late. Rentals will be available if you don't have your own kayak. Beginners welcome. I'm thinking that we do the upper dells this time, so we'll start north of the dam near Louie bluff, and kayak downstream to the dam. Stop along the way at a sand bar or something and eat lunch. You may want to bring a small lunch, water, and any other drinks you may want to carry in your kayak. Bring sunblock!!! Here's the schedule for the day: 7:30-10:30: Drive from Oak Park to Baraboo, Wisconsin 10:30-11:30: Retrieve trailer, drive to Point Bluff Resort 11:30-12:30: Retrieve kayaks, launch kayaks 12:30-5:30: Kayak the Dells and lunch 5:30-6:30: Load kayaks and return to Point Bluff 6:30-7:30: Drive to Baraboo, Wisconsin and return trailer 7:30-10:30: Drive back to Oak Park, IL (Dinner on the way?) The plan is to launch from the Lyndon boat launch near Louie bluff around 12:30, and pull out at the Upper Dells Boat Ramp in Wisconsin Dells around 5:30. See the images below for a detailed route plan on the water. It looks like the total kayak rental price all included is going to be $60, to cover the kayak rental fee, launch fee, life jackets, and transportation. Deduct from this if you have any of these things. We can meet at my place in the morning early on Saturday at 7:30 to carpool, my address is 120 N Oak Park Ave, Oak Park. There is parking there. Or, people can also just meet up at the Dells too if they want. If there is demand, we may stop for dinner after on the way back. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Come to the Oak Park Brewing Co. and show off your trivia knowledge! Trivia starts at 8 and goes until 10, but I will try to arrive early to snag a table. We usually sit in the back, don't hesitate to ask if we're the meet-up group! Most of the regulars don’t RSVP but we usually get at least 12+ people each week This week’s trivia is miscellaneous. Not good at trivia? Come out anyway and be social, it'll be fun!
For those of you that like the idea of games at the bar, but hate the idea of thinking too much, come hang out and drink with your friends while Chris hosts MUSIC Bingo – and you can win prizes! The game is almost exactly the same as regular Bingo, except we will be playing clips of popular songs rather than reading off letters/numbers. The music ranges from the '50s to today's top hits, including fun themed rounds (80's rock, 90's hits). Music Bingo is completely free to play but pays out real prizes every single game. McWethy's Sports Bar has amazing food and a huge selection of craft beer, wine, and cocktails to enjoy while you play! Every person that attends gets their own set of bingo cards, so the more friends/family you bring, the higher the chance someone will win at your table!
