- (O melhor) Tome BART e caminhe 2 quadras.
Acacia Woods-Chan will be leading a combined class and conversation session for Brazilian Portuguese at Pedro’s Brazil Cafe in Berkeley the second Monday of every month starting in January. Acacia is the founder of Ethnic Ties (https://www.ethnicties.org), a company that connects her passion for language with her passion for empowering community groups. Every month we’ll combine a mini language class covering various topics such as slang and regional accents with conversation practice loosely based around a Brazilian subject such as Brazilian music, traveling to Brazil, or Brazilian food.
Pedro’s Brazil Cafe offers a variety of Brazilian small plates and snacks. Yelp review at https://www.yelp.com/biz/pedros-brazil-cafe-berkeley-2. Note that there are two locations for Pedro’s; we’re meeting at the one at 1960 University between Milvia and Bonita.
Parking and traffic are tight in Berkeley. Here are some options
- (Best) Take BART and walk 2 blocks.
- Park at MacArthur BART station and then BART into Berkeley
- Look for residential street parking around neighborhoods such as by Delaware and McGee and walk 5 blocks or so.
- Park in a Berkeley City parking structure and pay an evening flat rate of $8. There’s a public one on Center Street at Milvia and a private one at Allston street at Milvia.
- Try to find street parking with a meter which doesn’t charge after 6pm. Good luck :)!
We want to encourage native and almost-native (i.e. expat) speakers to attend so it is free for them. For language learners, we’re requesting $5 per session to compensate Acacia.
I look forward to meeting new friends and seeing past regulars! See you there!
