4th Springtime Island Writers Club Retreat
Our 4th Springtime Island Writers Retreat... Our 2018 spring writers retreat is at the 122-years-old "President's Cottage" on Middle Bass Island from Friday, May 18th through Sunday, May 20th. You're invited to get away with us and spend time with your writing and like-minded writers. (Any profits from this retreat will go toward restoring and repairing the cottage.) The $295 reservation fee covers everything, including your round-trip passenger tickets for the ferry, transport to/from the island ferry dock, overnight accommodations in your private cottage room for two nights, all meals and beverages for three days, planned group writing activities and your own individual time for writing or consulting with writing coach Steve FitzGerald during this unique weekend retreat. For past retreat photos, click here ( Long ago, French explorers called Middle Bass Island Isle de Fleurs, because of its native wildflowers. The newly opened Lonz Winery state park is a popular "Kodak moment" along with its glacial grooves, the bald eagle's nest, views of Commodore Perry's Monument, and Lake Erie sunsets. Today, Middle Bass is referred to as "the quiet island" and it's ideal for our small-group writing retreat. Reservations are limited so, if this retreat fills up, there will be a waiting list. Special requests and room preferences will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis. Our writers retreats often sell out, so if you're planning to be a part of this unique getaway, reserve soon! (President Taft photo courtesy of the White House Press Office. As writers, we sometimes need to get away from the everyday grind that monopolizes our time, focus and creative energy. It helps if we can escape the "rat race" to rediscover the craft and pleasure of our writing in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

The Island Writers Club (formerly known as Ohio Writers Retreats) was organized in 2009, to help writers get away from their distractions to make progress writing, and to be in the company of other writers. We'll feature, sponsor, co-sponsor and present writing retreats that offer island getaway options. Meetup organizer and writing coach Steve FitzGerald leads the small-group retreats and the private, individual "One-Plus-One" retreats. You can learn more about Steve -- and read reviews of writers he's assisted -- by visiting

We hope you'll join our meetup group today and then plan to attend the group or individual writing retreat that's right for you!

Currently, there are no membership dues to join the Island Writers Club, but the retreats we sponsor, co-sponsor or feature will require that you reserve in advance and pay a fee to attend and cover costs.
