A Multicultural Experience - India

Okanagan Sikh Temple

Sat Sri Akall (Hello) Everyone! Come join me for a Multicultural Experience of India a two day event at the Vaishakhi Festival. A celebration to mark the harvest winter crops in the Punjab region and the start of a New Year. Farmers celebrate the fruits of their labour, give thanks and pray for prosperity in the future during the festival. For Sikhs, Vaishakhi is a historical and religious festival in Sikhism. This Festival marks the Punjabi and Khalsa New Year and also celebrates the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors. Which was founded by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. This will be a two day event. A visit inside the Sikh temple. When you arrive you can park in the parking lot in front of the temple or on the street. We will meet near the front doors of the temple and will enter together. We will be welcomed by our young members who will explain about the temple. When we do enter the Gurdwara (the residence of the Guru) the ladies will go one side and will take off their shoes and please wear a head scarf that you brought from home. The men will go on the other side and a clean ramal (orange head cover) will be provided for you. Please be aware to cover your shoulder and knees, no jeans. After the tour we will go into the hall to enjoy a free authentic vegetarian Indian meal that the members from the Temple have prepared for us.

Final Bike Clinic - Tire Changing, Cleaning and Maintaining Your Bike - FREE

Wow I had such a huge response for the other 2 events that I have added a final one. There is a limit of 18 but if there is more interest I can add a few more numbers Gary the owner of Cycle Path will give a free bike cleaning and maintenance clinic. He will also teach us how to change our tires. No need to bring our own bikes, he will have everything there to teach us everything that we need to know to have a safe biking season. The clinic starts at 6:30 but be there anytime after 6:15 and be ready to learn by 6:30. We don't want to keep him waiting as he is graciously doing this for free. After the event if anyone would like to purchase anything he is giving us a 10% discount on everything in the store. How generous of him. Let the biking season begin!
