What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in learning about or playing the theremin. Invented in 1920, the theremin was the first electronic musical instrument. Remarkably, it is played without ever touching it! All skill levels are welcome. If you do not yet own a theremin, perhaps this will help you to decide whether you would like one. I want to meet other theremin players or create the interest that may attract others to play the theremin. Theremin-playing is ideal for those who cannot read sheet music (my instructor is legally blind), those unable to lift a heavy instrument, even those who have the use of only one hand. It is suitable for an adult or a child.

No Meetups December 2021 - but feel free to contact me for information!

No meetups in December 2021. But normally, in the club's theremin jam you can try out the club's theremin, musical saw, piano, or drums, and/or bring your own instrument of any kind to join in! The theremin is the instrument you "never touch"--you wave your hands over it to play by ear--classical to blues to pop. This casual family-friendly combo introduces you to the story behind the theremin, and helps you personally try it out, using live accompaniment and/or backing tracks. Invented by Russian scientist Leon Theremin, this earliest electronic instrument was introduced in 1920. You'll meet new music friends and have plenty to hum about all the way home! We usually meet just about every Sunday night but not in December 2021. Call Maggie at[masked] for info.
