Welcome to "OLD DUDES on DIRT BIKES"

The group was started by Ken Sanchez in September 2012 to help get us  "older" dirt riders (Dudes) together and ride the Sam Houston Nat'l forest in groups rather than riding alone.  He hadn't ridden in quite a few years (30+) so he was wanting to find other dirt riders who shared the same passion for getting back into dirt bike riding. The first meetup was 6 dude riders (Larry included) with the same thought, to ride the SHNF at our pace without having to race or ride alone and never have any drama doing it.

The group has grown since 2012, and with it comes many different riding styles and ages.  Our riders now vary from the mid 20's to mid 70's, with many different riding abilities.  We have members that ride the SHNF trails, MX, trials, dual sports, and even an occasional street ride. We encourage our members to post rides whenever and wherever, we also encourage the members not to ride alone but find someone to ride with when heading out. And we encourage all members to wear safety equipment when they ride (old bones heal slowly).

We are proud to have the privilege in becoming a Senior Level Volunteering Group for the Trails Coalition Sam Houston National Forest Division, In this, we as "Old Dudes on Dirt Bikes" help manage and keep the multiuse trails cleaned and safe for all to ride.  This is fulfilled by working in removing debris from the trails, managing erosion control of the trails, and cutting out fallen trees on the trails whenever possible along with adopting sections of the trails for volunteers to maintain. We also help in cleaning, and picking up trash around the MUT trailheads. We schedule group work days in the SHNF periodically and encourage all members to participate. We have one of only a few National Forests in the United States where Multi Use Trails (Dirt Bikes) are able to ride.  Your help is truly needed and appreciated in keeping OUR forest healthy, safe, groomed, maintained and ride ready for you and future generations to enjoy.  Please step up when asked. If we don't do it, we will lose it!!!

We have many of our ODODB members that have joined the Texas Trails Coalition and  we believe this is very necessary to help keep our SHNF trails open to dirt bike riding along with other activities that participate in sharing the SHNF.  We do encourage all ODODB members to join and have a individual voice in what happens to our MUT trails within the SHNF.   This is well worth the effort!

We are none profit group, but we do take donations to keep the web site going and all donations collected will only be used to fund the continuation of this group on meetup (website costs), but you do not have to contribute to join or stay a member, it's strictly your choice.

If you believe this group is for you, we encourage you to participate as much as you want and always ride safe. If something were to happen to you on a group ride, rest assured that a member will be there to help you. We look out for each other.  If you do become a member, always remember that this is a WE/YOUR group and what you put into is what you'll get out of it .
