Scrum As Alchemy
Alchemy is an ancient branch of natural philosophy based partly upon experimentation and partly upon magic. Practised throughout Europe, Africa and Asia from as early as 80 BC and flourishing in medieval times, it is considered the forerunner of modern chemistry. The alchemist is concerned with the transmutation of matter, from base to higher state, believing all matter to be on a path towards enlightenment. Thus the efforts to turn lead into gold is more a spiritual endeavour than a capitalist one.
What does this have to do with scrum? This short talk with breakout dialogs will shed some light on the analogy, and reveal why a scrum team is the elusive philosophers' stone.
