What we're about
Open Chapel @ First Church (http://firstchurchberkeley.org/young-adults) is an experimental, extravagantly welcoming worship gathering for young adults (ages 18-35ish) in the East Bay every 1st Wednesday of the month at 6 PM in Loper Chapel at First Church Berkeley (http://www.firstchurchberkeley.org) (plus we do other things together, too!)
We are a warm, inclusive, diverse spiritual community of mostly twenty- and thirty-somethings, a mix of seekers, skeptics, students, neighbors, strangers and friends. We come together to reflect on our lives and the world around us, and to open ourselves to the Spirit of God, however we understand God. We come to meet new people and deepen friendships, to be beloved community, to offer hope, to heal, to cultivate peace, wonder, and joy. We support each other, sing, question, learn, pray, and serve our community, and eat together!
Join us every first Wednesday as we slow down, sing out, tune in, speak up, give back, break bread, and open up. This progressive, experimental, inclusive, participatory Christian worship gathering is open to all those who self-identify as young adults. We meet in beautiful Loper Chapel at First Church Berkeley (http://firstchurchberkeley.org), 2345 Channing Way (Big brick church right near Cal, you can’t miss it! Enter the chapel on the corner of Dana and Durant).
Services are led by Young Adult Minister Rev. Kit Novotny, Open Chapel Coordinator Bree Elle Gardner with a team of young adults, and folk musicians Sarah andThomas Gettys, and Director of Music Derek Tam. Remaining 2018 Dates:
1st Wednesdays Open Chapel Worship left in 2018: Wednesdays 9/5, 10/3, 11/7, 12/5
